About this series
Where Bayley on Behaviour focused specifically on the mechanics of managing pupils, Teaching with Bayley opens out to broader classroom craft. The same coaching model — sustained attention to the specifics of what teachers do — is applied to lessons that aren't about behaviour management per se but are about the rest of the daily work of teaching.
For early-career teachers, series like this are unusually valuable because they show what expert practice actually looks like in the room, rather than describing it in the abstract. Books can tell you that a strong opening matters; watching a teacher execute one and hearing a coach analyse it afterwards teaches something books can't.
The series is also useful for mentors and CPD leaders who want a shared vocabulary for discussing craft with early-career staff. Instead of feedback that reads as "your questioning could be better", a mentor and mentee can watch a specific episode together and discuss "the way she waited for eight seconds after that question — could we try that this week?"

- Pick one episode focused on an aspect of teaching you're working on. Watch it twice: once for the flow, once for specific moves you could imitate.
- Try one specific technique from the series in your next lesson. Note what changed.
- If you mentor an ECT, watch an episode together and discuss what to try before the next mentor meeting.
